calculate design sprocket/pulley to couple motor gearbox

(OP)
How would one begin to specify the type of device(s) needed to couple a 0-1750RPM motor to a 0-220RPM gearbox.  Maximum of 7.5HP may be needed at the gearbox input while in duty.  High initial torque while accel to run speed.  Binding of gearbox by product occurs occasionally.  Will I decide to use pullys and a belt, sprockets and a chain or a gear reducer after the motor directly coupled to the input shaft.

RE: calculate design sprocket/pulley to couple motor gearbox

Hi JWMcKnight,
If the product binds or jams the gearbox occasionally, why are you not including a torque limiter at the gearbox?  This mechanical fuse could save some expensive mechanical parts later on.
