Concrete finishing with rock salt
Concrete finishing with rock salt
(OP)
We are finishing an area around a swimming pool and one of the finishes being considered is a textured stone finish.
I was told rock salt was pressed onto the surface and then rinsed off after the concrete set up.
Any thoughts?
My concern is the long term effects: surface spalling/cracking that rock salt may cause.
thanks

Alternatives might be:
1. A surface retarder and then a wash after initial set?
2. Sandblasted surface.
3. Stamped concrete.

I have only seen this done as a topping to the structural slab on grade. they use a white cement and silica sand which gives it a white finish and not grey. Most of the time is is lined to give the look of individual stones.
