Hazardous Area Equipment Installation/Check Procedure

Can I get General Installation/Check Procedure of Hazardous Area Equipment(EX equipment) to install correctly it and to check if it is correctly installed ?

RE: Hazardous Area Equipment Installation/Check Procedure

Ask Manufacturer - That is the way.

RE: Hazardous Area Equipment Installation/Check Procedure

Most definitely need to check fluorescent fixtures for correct wiring before installing. I one time put up a $2,000 explosionproof fixture with 4 rapid start tubes in them. Had to take it down the next day and fix it because somebody mixed the yellow wires for 2 of the tubes resulting in 2 filaments not getting 4 volt filament power. Somebody asked me if the 2 flashing tubes were for a discoteque. The yellow wires were connected together at the ballast rather than at the lampholders resulting in 6 yellow wires connected with 2 wirenuts, giggle giggle.

You would think that for $2,000 the fixture would be wired correctly but quality control seems to be absent at some places.

You need to comply with the code rules (NEC or CSA or similar) of course.  Also, IEC 60079-14 covers installations in hazardous areas.  I don't know of any "checklist" that might be available.
