'Simplify' part or assembly?

'Simplify' part or assembly?

'Simplify' part or assembly?

(OP)
I've imported some STEP files into SolidWorks.  It worked fine, except they're not oriented properly.  If I use the Move/Copy feature to orient the body as I would like it, can I then go back and wipe out that feature, & leave the part as a Base part without any additional features?  That's a terrible description of what I want to do--for those of you that have used Mechanical Desktop, I'm looking for the equivalent of "Make Base Part" where you wipe out all features used to create the part and you're left with just a body.

Can you do that in SolidWorks?  Thanks,

Brian

RE: 'Simplify' part or assembly?

Once you have the parts oriented, do a "Save as" a parasolid file, then re-import. From there you can either do a feature recognition or leave it as an imported body.
