Current Limiting Fuse Application Information

Current Limiting Fuse Application Information

(OP)
Hello,
I'm looking for information on applying current limiting fuses, particularly for arc flash hazards.  The IEEE Red Book only contains a very brief discussion of CLFs.  Does anyone have any links to resources?
Thank You

RE: Current Limiting Fuse Application Information

I'd check with Bussman and Ferraz Shawmut.  They definitely have a bias, but they have good test data and other technical information on CLFs and arc-flash.  The Bussman website has a number of technical papers available.

When considering CLFs for arc-flash protection, the biggest issue is making sure there is enough short-circuit current available to get the fuse into its current-limiting range.  If the fuse takes longer than 1/2 cycle to operate, it isn't current-limiting.
