Lease Water Tank
Lease Water Tank

I want to design a 1000 bbl water tank with automatic level controls. Can anyone suggest a setup / manufacture(s)so that I can design the system without hiring another engineer. I know, I need to degign for 10,000 bpd at less than 150 Psi, not much head. I want a fail safe system with electronic alarms

RE: Lease Water Tank
I think you'll find that an API standard 1,000 bbl tank comes in two diameter/height combinations. Both of them are rated at something around 0.5 psi (think about it, 1/2 psi spread over a 15 ft diameter 12,000 lbf). At 150 psi you would have to design a standard diameter tank to resist almost 2 million lbf.
If you're looking for a 10,000 bbl/day pressure vessel the references are different.

RE: Lease Water Tank
Probably the best bet on the controls is simply contacting a company (ie, electrical contractor) that specializes in that type of control system.
I'm not sure what your comment about the 10,000 BPD @ 150 PSI means. The tanks mentioned above are all essentially atmospheric tanks. At that flow rate, you may want an oversized overflow on the tank, compared to what you'd see on an oil tank.
What part of the country or world are you in? We can point you to some specific contractors if you're in the right area.
