Toolbox Help!

Toolbox Help!

Toolbox Help!

(OP)
Fellas,
I'm trying to get toolbox working on my PC and I'm pulling out my hair at the moment. The problem is when I go to "options", "add-ins" and check the boxes "toolbox" and "toolbox browser" it simply crashes. I checked my ini file for the correct path, checked the common files area to make sure the files are there, uninstalled and reinstalled twice (this includes going through regedit and deleting files and folders). Also made sure securities and anti-virus was turned off. What gives? It shouldn't be this hard.........

The toolbox is loaded on my C:\

I have a link to an errors when I was updating to SP3.1 after the re-install of SW 2005 SP 0.0.

RE: Toolbox Help!

In your Design Library ar right, try adding a link to Toolbox. Worth a try. I can't think of another way.

RE: Toolbox Help!

Are you installing from original CD, duplicate CD, or SW download?

I have the orginal CD's. Do you think I should try another set of orginals? I think it's something in the registry in windows. The Hole Wizard doesn't work as well. I'm starting to get a little pissed, because tech support can't figure it out as well.

FYI,
Our tech support sez that I need to install under the administrator instead of my user ID. The funny thing is that I have admin privlages under my user ID. They said it's different when you install under the std admin. Have you fellas heard of this before? Is it a MS thing?

Let me know your thoughts,

RE: Toolbox Help!

macduff,

That's true you need too. The Admin rights you have to your machine can still be limited and can cause install issues.

Also you might just try running a repair or modify on your system. See FAQ on how to.

Scott,
You said repair or modify. Do you mean for SW or Windows?

Guys and Gals,
Our VAR had to contact SW in Boston to get this fixed. This is what SW came up with:

"We have seen issues related to this one in the past caused by an unregistered dll. The dll that is missing is the dao360.dll. In order to register this dll open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO and you should see a dao360.dll. In a command prompt type regsvr32, insert a space and then drag the dll into the command prompt and hit enter. You should receive a message saying the dll was successfully registered. Now open SolidWorks and turn on Toolbox."

FYI, it worked too! Pretty weird.........
