RS LOGIX

We have a problem with our RS Logix programs in our plant. If you work on the program offline then all of the ladder and register file descriptions are available. However as soon as you go online to the processor then some of these descriptions disappear which can cause problems in a fault finding situation. We have tried doing an ASCII import from a back-up file whilst online, although this does not have any success. Does anybody have any suggestions

RE: RS LOGIX

Are you using RSMACC or Source Control?

RE: RS LOGIX

Hi

Are you opening your project or file offline before going online?

If you upload your program as a new file from an SLC it won't contain the comments.

We are using source control.

We do open the project offline first before going online. I am aware that the comments are only stored on the hard drive of the computer however i thought they would automatically be uploaded with the program.

RE: RS LOGIX

They would be uploaded with the program if it is the same as the one you are looking at. However, does the software ask you to select a file to "merge" with before allowing you to go online. This is where the program is looking for a similar program in which to merge the comments into. Is it possible that somebody has done a mod on the program in the PLC and not updated the hard copy, you could check this with the compare tool in Logix. if this was the case you would need to update your hard copy and you should lose this problem.
