Extrude Part to Stop at Other Part
Extrude Part to Stop at Other Part
(OP)
Hi Ya All,
Just found this site and you all seem to know what you are doing with inventor, so I have a question for you. I want to be able to extrude a part and have the extrusion stop on a complex/curved face of another part OR failing that:- I would like to subtract one solid from another, just like I'm used to doing in MDT or even 3D. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

RE: Extrude Part to Stop at Other Part
If you wish to subtract a solid from a solid, select cut instead of join.
The three buttons in the middle of the extrude dialogue box control the extrusion output. The top one joins the extrusions assuming there is more than one. The middle one cuts the current extrusion from the solid through which the extrusion will pass. The bottom button...well its easier if you try it. Its difficult to explain what it does.
