HVAC Heat pump held needed A.S.A.P.
(OP)
Trane heat pump less than 5 years old. Was working fine. Now it has no air flow out the registers even w/ everything running. Tubing outside coming out of house to compressor was iced over. Cleaned that off w/ the hose. Checked indoor filter, it was VERY dirty. I'm thinking I froze up my indoor coils so no air flow is moving even w/ everything on. Anyway to get things unfrozen and going again (speed it up) or am I just going to have to wait. Everything is off now.
I should have replaced the filter 3 months ago, and again, it is VERY dirty, so I imagine that is the culprit for the ice on the tubing and the indoor coil (which I can't see but I'm assuming by feeling the tubing inside, as it had a little ice on it as well). It is 90+F outside today so not only am I hot, but the wife is ticked.
Advice needed and appreciated.

Well now you know why you need to service the filter once a month. Take your lovly wife out to dinner and as soon as possible get in there a clean out all that crap out of the coils that bipassed the cheap filters you were not replacing on a regular schedule.
You have a computer use the calender feature in "Outlook" to prompt you to do these weekly, monthly and annual service tasks.
It's so easy to avoid the chore... but who do you want to pay. It's up to you... and your lovely wife. Whom do you want her to see as the hero, You or some guy with a plummers butt.
Best regards

1. Original filter on the bottom of the unit was still in place (in the slideout tray) and it was extremely dirty.
2. I know the filter was the original filter on the bottom of the unit as the drain blocks the removal of this filter by sliding out the tray. Ingenious installation no doubt.
I only have 1 return air and it is right there below the unit so I yanked (tore out) the original filter off the bottom of the unit, inspected the inside coils (looked good and clean), and put the return air grill up w/ the nice new clean filter on the return air grill. 2 filters were killing the air flow and my efficiency. Glad I discovered this only after 2 years in the house and not when my unit died prematurely. Makes me have great confidence in the last service tech who was there and "inspected" my system and did "maintenance". I'll just throw my money in the toilet next time and then do the service myself! ;0)
Filter will be changed on the 1st of the month when I pay the mortgage...
On a good note, the house is noticeably colder.

The filter is the simplest thing. I guess I would advise you to handle filters yourself, and hang over the shoulders of any future tech who offers what they call "service."
