HYDRATES INHIBITION
HYDRATES INHIBITION
(OP)
Hi my friends
We are using EGlycol to prevent hydrates formation in the gas stream of a dew point control plant. Furthermore, we have an auxiliary methanol injection system in case of failure of the EGlycol injection.
So, could I operate the both injection systems at the same time in case of low ambient temperatures, that could cause freezing inside of the process equipments?
Do you think that the methanol could cause problems in the EGlycol regeneration system. (e.g distillation column & reboiler)
Thanks in advance

If operating under vacuum, methanol will be vented, presumably to a flare, after being compressed by a (presumably) liquid ring pump. The only troubles I have experienced are the irregularities in methanol feed to the system, resulting in irregularities in evaporation pressures - but this is easily solved.
