error on check-in

error on check-in

error on check-in

(OP)
Anyone know what these errors mean in PDMWorks 2005, SP3.1?

Vault Error 40:

Failed on check in of document "xxxx.sldprt".
Check in aborted!

or:

Vault Error 50:

Failed on check in of document "xxxx.sldasm".
Check In aborted!

To lay some groundwork, I recently had to restore my vault from backup and have been getting these errors since.  These errors occur when trying to check in new revisions of documents that exist in the vault already.  Check in of anything new to the vault appears to work smoothly.

As always, any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave Gowans

RE: error on check-in

Maybe ... You either checked in the wrong revision, setup for it's lifecycle status, or you are not logged in as it's owner.

Sorry, I made a mistake in my original post:

I get this error (sometimes, but not all) when attempting to check in a document that doesn't exist in the vault as well as when attempting to check in new revisions of documents that exist.  I have checked to make sure that the revisions/lifecycles match what is allowed and that I have ownership of the documents I am trying to check in.

Does this sound to anyone else like I should uninstall/reinstall the vault?  I have a feeling that I would end up saving myself some time and grief.....

RE: error on check-in

It wouldn't hurt to start/stop the vault. Try it and also re-boot your pc.

I've tried that.  Stopped the vault, rebooted the vault server, rebooted the client machine.

I'm still getting erratic behavior on check-in attempts.

Any more thoughts??

RE: error on check-in

Can you do anything else in the vault? Rename, change project, etc.
Try another file that is in the vault to see if it is all files or just the one.
If it is just the one, you may have to delete it, then re-check in.

I believe I figured it out, and I'm feeling more than a little stoopid!!!!

The reason I needed to restore the vault from backup was because we ran out of disk on our server.  We made space, or so I thought, and I restored the vault from backup.  Unfortunately, we didn't make enough space and the server is full again, which is the source of my check-in errors.

I'm reasonably confident that when I make room for the vault on the server my problems will be resolved.  Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.
