Custom Hole Wizard Standards: Adapting to Hole Callouts

Custom Hole Wizard Standards: Adapting to Hole Callouts

(OP)
end of thread thread559-108388

I have modified the Solid Works standards to match my company's standards but have been unsuccessful in modify the hole callouts to follow the new hole sizes that were created. I want the hole callout for my company's standard to be pretty much the same as the ANSI standard I based it off of. Does anyone know how this can be done?
Thanx!

Did you place the Thread data in DB when you changed it? Otherwise you will have to change the calloutformat.txt file to match your New standard DB.

FYI - this should be posted as a new issue and not part of this one. You can reference it though.

cougarcat02,
After I created my new standard, I selected the relevent lines for the "Original" Standard (in your case ANSI) in calloutformat.txt, and copied and pasted them to the end of the file. Finally I amended the title of the newly pasted section to match the name of the derived Standard.

Colin.

 Thank CMcF
for this valuable post!

Yes, my thread info is in the database and i have tried (several times) to add my standards info to the calloutformat.txt file. It hasn't worked. When I try and call out a custom hole on a drawing I get all of the default solidworks symbols (like <HOLE-SPOT>) that have been removed from my .txt file. Any ideas where it might be pulling these from? Thanx!

You can only use certain callouts in the Calloutformat.txt file. If you are not using those formats, then that maybe why you can't get it to work.

1) Place a file into a drawing and make holecallout in the drawing
2) highlight the callout
3) you will see the property manager pop up
4) You will see a button called "Variables" under Dimension Text
5) Pick the button
6) Select a type and you will see the callout for that type of callout. That is the syntax you must use in the Calloutformat.txt file.

You can't deviate from that syntax or it will not work.

RE: Custom Hole Wizard Standards: Adapting to Hole Callouts

Just to eliminate the simple.
I had a similar problem. I was editing the wrong copy of the file. Check the file location in Tools, options, file locations.
