My hole call outs are wrong..

My hole call outs are wrong..

My hole call outs are wrong..

(OP)
I have known this for awhile but I have decided to give it a go to fix it.

When I put in english tapped holes, the call out is perfect. When I put in Metric tapped holes, the call out is slightly messed up. The format that is used to get this is the one that came with solidworks. The file is called
"calloutformat" and mine was found in C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\lang\english

For example- My model has a M5X0.8 hole in it that is 12.7mm deep. Solidworks calls this out at M5-6H (depth symbol) 12.7

I want it to - M5x.08-6Hx12.7(depth symbol)

The question is, what do I need to do to the "calloutformat" file..

SW2005 SP1

RE: My hole call outs are wrong..

What version of SolidWorks are you using? I'd bet SW2005 SP<2.0. SP0 and SP1.1 left out the pitch when using hole callout.  You will have to upgrape to at least SP2.0 for it to work again.

Its at the bottom of the post.. 2005 sp1

I understand what you mean. I don't see sp2 in our near future so if anyone out there would like to send me that file from their sp2 pack that would be great. Thanks

RE: My hole call outs are wrong..

By law no one should send you that file except for your VAR or you downloading it from SW directly.

If you are sent a SP file, they are breaking the license agreement with SW and if that is found out about then you will have more things to worry about then where you are going to eat for lunch today.

RE: My hole call outs are wrong..

I don't understand why you consider the SW format to be incorrect.  It follows the examples ste forth in ASME Y14.5.  "x .XXX (depth sym)" seems redundant.

RE: My hole call outs are wrong..

oh, I didn't know it was not legal for someone to send me that file.. Cancel that request then. Thanks for telling me.

The reason that it is incorrect is because Solidworks calls out M5-6h.. it doesn't put in that it is .8  (as in M5x0.8)

RE: My hole call outs are wrong..

articcatmatt,

Sorry I missed what SP you were on.  If you check out thread559-106075, it contains a temporary solution to your problem until you can upgrade to a higher SP.

awesome. Thanks!

well regg,

after I customized it.. the english threads no longer said "UNC" but the metric was good. So, I went thru it and figured out how it all worked and got it working sweet.

Then, I seen we had the new service pack available (sp3)Doh!
All that work for nothing. But at least I gained more knowledge of the formats.

Sp3 getting installed tommorrow. Thanks again!!!
