I've a few 500cc air cooled English motorcycle engines, circa 1950, to rebuild.

The original small end bush appears to be of an aluminum alloy.  

Can someone recommend a modern bearing material and quote a ASTM or SAE number for the material?

We use AMPCO 18 which is a trade name and complies with CDA-954. This is an aluminum/bronze with very favorable characteristics in engine pin bushing use.

This material is available from Atlas Bronze in the USA.
