Manifold piping systems for Storage tanks

Manifold piping systems for Storage tanks

(OP)
I am in need of any technical or recommended standards for the design of a manifolded underground storage tank sytem.

Problem: Due to poor design (improper equipment) a vendor has suggested installing a manifold bar with no form of vacuum to charge the line. This (he suggests) will be accomplished by pressurizing the tank(s) in turn, charging the manifold, and hoping the liquid levels never drop below the product lines in the tanks. In that case, the process would have to be repeated each time th eline has lost prime.
Manifold lines are usually kept primed by the pumping system. I have never seen such an installation and am presently rejecting it. Any supporting documentation on this subject would be greatly appreciated. PEI and various manufacturers have offered no documentation on this subject. Mkeith1650@aol.com mkeith@mde.state.md.us
