Soft, temperature-resistant gasket for use in reactor

Soft, temperature-resistant gasket for use in reactor

(OP)
I'm trying to set up a reactor that uses a pair of ceramic plates. In order to make sure no gas escapes, I need to install a gasket. However, this system sandwiches a piece of brittle carbon paper between two ceramic plates, which are then screwed together. I need a gasket which can a) withstand temperatures up to 600-700 C and exposure to carbon monoxide, and b) is soft enough to avoid cracking the brittle carbon paper or the ceramic plates when they are screwed together. The pressure shouldn't be much above normal room pressure, so the seal doesn't have to be that strong. Your help would be much appreciated.

Trying Garlock 1-800-448-6688. They're very helpful.

Garlock won't have any suitable gasket materials for 600C.  If you have low pressure, you should use a ceramic paper (felt) gasket.  Look at the FiberFrax website for more info.  We use this material for hot exhaust gases on flimsy ductwork flanges with low bolting and it works very well.
