We have two concurrent licenses for CATIA V5. I would like to work from home but couldn't figure out how to check out a license. The license server is behind a firewall and LUM doesn't seem to work through firewalls. Is there a way around this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: Firewall
You could first ask the network adiminstrator if they allow a tunnel through the firewall. If not, then you would need to make sure that your LUM (per your license agreement) has the ability to set up concurrent-offline licenses. With this method, you will be able to generate a temporary nodelocked license, with an expiration.
Of course, you need to have adminstrative privileges to do this. If you don't have administrative privileges, or are not given use privilieges, you would be wasting your time, because the Central registry server will not talk to your machine, unless you are set up in the Network license database. (your machine target ID)
RE: Firewall
Assume they're willing open a tunnel. What's the next step? They won't do anything unless I give them specific requests.
RE: Firewall
I'm not a LUM expert, so use my advice as a building block - speak with someone who knows, for sure. If you know what reseller your company bought Catia license from, they will be more than happy to help you with this. (unless your company has an authorized contact - then you would need to go through them)
You do also understand, that you can only get the license if nobody else is using it, right?
If you have the ability to get the concurrent offline, that might be the best option, as it could be granted on a schedule.

RE: Firewall
I use a remote license from work. I use a windows VPN to connect to the office network, I have installed LUM on my computer, and configure it to find the license server.
It goes thru my home firewall (software) and thru some security at work I do not know about but it works. Talk to your IT and tell them you need to access CATIA License server from Home they should know what to do.
Wish I could give more info but I guess network security is different from one office to the next...

RE: Firewall
I gave up when someone from IBM told me that they asked Dassault and it wouldn't work because LUM doesn't support firewalls. I guess they either changed LUM since or the person they asked had no idea what they were asking.
RE: Firewall
LUM is the heart of your Catia session, if you are not running nodelocked licenses. It acts as a distribution hub for unlocking functionality across a user base. Firewall is network security. You can have one without the other, but neither directly supports the other. Apples and oranges.
So itsmyjob has basically given you exactly the same advice that I gave, but correctly advised you on the point of every network being different. Ask your IT folks, and if they can't help you, it's a dead issue. (sorry)
RE: Firewall
This seems to be incorrect because it works for you so I'll try it again.
Thanks.
RE: Firewall
Why, if I might ask, don't you try securing a concurrent offline license from your company?
All of this is explained in the LUM documentation that came with the LUM CD. There should be one at your facility, because they include one with every packaged distribution.
