Asymtek 402 Conversion to Gantry

Asymtek 402 Conversion to Gantry

(OP)
Does anyone have any experience changing the desktop version of an Asymtek 402 (with needle sense, vision, height sense) to a gantry configuration. I already have to make a custom gantry anyway, so the availability of the 402 that has the right options is attractive. Is it different software, software configuration, or mounting?

RE: Asymtek 402 Conversion to Gantry

You have to turn the spring in the z-head balancing most of its weight. If you want the y-arrow keys to act in the logical way, you need to change the personality parameter no. 5, "PE5,1;". This is it as far as I remember. I did it several years ago.
