2006 Civil 3D, Laptop/Notebook?

2006 Civil 3D, Laptop/Notebook?

(OP)
Dear computer pros,

My current laptop meets the bare minimum system requirements set forth by Autodesk to run the new  Civil 3D software, but is running far too slow.  I am looking into purchasing a new laptop and would greatly appreciate any comments or reviews on the best notebooks for operating this beast.

Cheers!

RE: 2006 Civil 3D, Laptop/Notebook?

I got the HP ZD8000, and customized it up to about 1700 worth total price.  I got the 6 series P4 3.2 ghz, gig ram, 256 meg ATI Radeon, 100 gig, dvd burner, 17" WS display,  blah blah...it cost roughly 1786 i think.  Its a bigger laptop, but its all about performance.  It also has a full size number pad, I am a cad junky too, and the nuumber pad is VERY nice to have.

Like I said its big, but does it just snort with Mechanical Desktop, Inventor or anything else I can throw at it.  Love it.

Alex
