V-Ring Seals

V-Ring Seals

V-Ring Seals

(OP)
I'm going to be using some V-Ring seals from Chicago Rawhide in a design.  I can't seem to find any design guidelines on their website and their tech desk has not emailed me back.

The V-Ring specs give OD, ID and width.  I assume width is the uncompressed dimension.  The question is then, how much should I deflect the lip against the seal face?  The seals are VR1 style Viton 2 inch and 2.5 inch ID.

RE: V-Ring Seals

sreid,
If you still haven't received anything from CR try compressing .070" for both seals.

lostand found,

Thanks for the reply.  CR did respond (finally) and they said the width dimension in their parts look up search is the installed width.  When the parts come in, I'll check and see if the deflection is in the 0.070 range.
