gears in simply motion

(OP)
Hi I have constructed some gears in a simple gearbox and would like to animate the motion, i can get the first shaft to rotate fine but is it possible ot get the subsequent gears/shafts to rotate in relation to it? do I put motion into each shaft separately? can one gear drive another?
Any help gratefully received

RE: gears in simply motion

Hi,

You could have a variable calculating the ratio and thus the difference in speeds for the different gears. You will then have to enter those velocities for each gear or other rotating part.

It's not possible to animate just one gear that would just 'push' the others (b/c of the toothed geometry). You have to animate (go to properties) each 'revolute' or 'axial' joint in this situation.
