Insert Body Part or Feature of Part into drawing

Insert Body Part or Feature of Part into drawing

(OP)
I am trying to figure out the correct method of getting a body part of the part file into a drawings without having the entire part inserted.  I've only managed to hide the un-needed parts but I wonder if theres a better method for this.

RE: Insert Body Part or Feature of Part into drawing

Instead of Hide, you should Suppress the features in the part model that you don't want to appear in the Drawing.

RE: Insert Body Part or Feature of Part into drawing

Create a config which has the unwanted bodies either hiddensuppressed or (in the Solid Bodies section ) deleted.

The problem is that the parent/child relationship unables me to suppress all bodys.  Is there any other way around this?

Sorry but I'm having trouble finding how to remove the parent child relationship.

RE: Insert Body Part or Feature of Part into drawing

Parent Child relationships will be created by referencing geometry from another body or by applying Mates or dimensioning.

RE: Insert Body Part or Feature of Part into drawing

one thing you forgot CBL is "relationships" when in a sketch.

Example:

You start a sketch and make a feature

The parent is the "Sketch" and the child is the "Feature"

Because the sketch was there before the feature.

Think of it like you parents - You would be here if it wasn't for them - Something in SW - A feature can't exist without a sketch. - One feature maybe dependent on another. So you can check parent/child relationships by RMB the feature and select "Parent/Child"

Is there anyway to remove these relationships?

RE: Insert Body Part or Feature of Part into drawing

Sounds like you're working with a multi-body part...
In this case - you can INSERT FEATURES DELETE-BODY.
This is "supressable" with configurations.

If you're not using a muiti-body part - you'll have to roll-back & re-define your features so make it so. I always use multi-body parts whenever I can... just in case.

Hope this helps...

You should go through the Tutorial, because you need to understand the SW lingo, or you are going to continue to fight SW as well as other aspects of SW. The Tutorial is very helpful to give you a great understanding as a beginner in the Software.
