Changing assembly dimensions
Changing assembly dimensions
(OP)
hello everyone, I have made an assembly of a machine in Solid Edge and want to change make the whole assembly bigger. That is, I want to proportionally change the dimensions of all the parts involved without having to assemble them all over again. is there any way of doing so? if so then please let me know.
thank you
thank you

RE: Changing assembly dimensions
You can save your asm as a *.sat file (make sure you select the correct units in options). Then edit the sat file with notepad and change the number 1 at the beginning of the 3rd line by the scale factor (2 for example if you want an assembly that's twice as big. if there is a decimal write "1.5" for example). Save the modified sat file and open it in SE (again, make sure you select the correct units in options).
This way, you still have an assembly file and it's scaled up (or down). The only problem is that you have to redo all the assembly relationship if you need them. Also, this creates a whole new set of files with different names.

Are all your parts in the assembly are having Ground relationships? Other than that, I don't see any reason to reassemble the parts after changing the dimensions.
