Output From Triplex Pumps

(OP)
I've noticed that the plot of the output from a triplex piston pump is heavily influenced by the conrod length-motor radius ratio.

Is there a generalised formula for approximating the average output from a triplex pump or to derive a conservative analysis to show the worst possible pulsation effect?

RE: Output From Triplex Pumps

You should be able to make a math/geometry model of a "generalized" triplex pump in Excel or Mathcad.  And yes, such a model should show that pumps with smaller strokes (for same volume) have lower pulsation.  At least, the spreadsheet I made several years ago and in a different job told me that.

RE: Output From Triplex Pumps

The Reciprocating Pump by Miller is the text you need to get all the information on a pump of this type.
