Normal Protrusion

Normal Protrusion

Normal Protrusion

(OP)
I am attempting to add a normal protrusion to an egg shaped surface.  I have attempted to sketch on a reference plane and project my sketch onto the surface.  However, this of course distorts the sketch, so it no longer has the correct dimensions.  In addition, the normal protrusion command creates a curved surface, and I need to add holes to this protrusion, which I cannot do without a flat surface.  Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Normal Protrusion

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand perfectly what you want to do but here is something:
- you can project normal to the surface or normal to the plane of the skecth (options of project curve)
NB: this might give you the shape you wnat on the egg
- you could do the normal protrusion first and then add a cutout to create the flat face.

RE: Normal Protrusion

ianstifle,
Hope I've understood correctly.
Is the protrusion you are trying to create flat at one end and have a curved face at the other - provided by your egg-shaped surface ?
If so, just project the profile you have created using the from/to option for the extents step, and pick the egg-shape as the "to" extent.
If you have already created a sketch profile and it is not on the 'from' plane, you can create a plane parallel to it at the required distance and use that as the 'from' extent.
