Coriolis mass flow meter for steam and condensate

Coriolis mass flow meter for steam and condensate

Coriolis mass flow meter for steam and condensate

(OP)
Does anyone have experinece using a Coriolis mass flow meter for steam and condensate?

I have a very small steam/NCG/condensate flow to measure. Steam pressure 4.5 bar.g

Cheers
Kevin

RE: Coriolis mass flow meter for steam and condensate

I have not used a Coriolis meter in steam or condensate.  The first issue is temperature.  I see in MicroMotion literature that a high-temperature meter is available to
650 °F (343 °C).  The condensate stream raises another issue.  Coriolis meters respond poorly with bubbles in liquid applications.  As the meter takes a pressure drop, some flashing is inevitable.  Both Foxboro and MicroMotion claim to be able to handle some multiple phase applications.  I would request the sales person send your stream data to the factory for their written response.

RE: Coriolis mass flow meter for steam and condensate

The new Invensys Foxboro digital Coriolis Massflowmeter CFT50 successfully addresses the problem of accurately measuring 2-phase flow. The CFT50 can be used in any metering application, including slurries, nonhomogenous fluids and those foam or flask. CFT50 works in batch applications starting with emthy flow tube condictions. The CFT50 responds ten times faster than traditionel Coriolis Transmitters, reducing startup time while increasing throughput and profitability.

RE: Coriolis mass flow meter for steam and condensate

I saw Endress+Hauser corriolis meters used for 10barg steam application and I couldn't see a worse situation than what I saw(pipeline vibration, hot ambience and leaking steam near by the meter etc.) I checked the past records and the meters were working perfectly.

I personally feel that corriolis meters are overkill for steam application(in terms of money). You can go with density compensated vortexes for steam and turbines for condensate.
