Boustrophedon

(OP)

Are those people living in the eastern part of the world, and whose writing is from right to left, the only ones using boustrophedons in their letters ?

RE: Boustrophedon

boustrophedon = ancient writing method: an ancient method of inscribing and writing in which lines are written alternately from right to left and from left to right

RE: Boustrophedon

Bous = ox (bovine)

Boustrophedon = as the ox plows.

The word was used in a Gilligan's Island episode once.

If a writing is boustrophedon, do the individual letters get reversed in the reverse lines?

RE: Boustrophedon

Really?  Was it used in an original episode of Gilligan's Island, or one of those new so-called REAL Gilligan's Island episodes?  I wonder if its use sent viewers scurrying for their dictionaries.

RE: Boustrophedon

An original episode, although I can't remember which one.  Guess which character spoke it.

In boustrophedon, do the individual letters get reversed when the lines change direction?

William
