TECK90 CABLES
TECK90 CABLES
(OP)
I only know TECK90 means that the cables are designed for a working temperature of 90degrees. Can some one tell me
1) does TECK90 signify any thing more (such as armour or type of insulation or typr of conductor etc.)?
2) The nomenclature is new to me, is this American (ANSI)? I am from IEC world.
Thanks in anticipation.

The web page says the Teck90 cable is "Interlocked cable" - any idea what it could be.
Have you any idea about the corflex type polyethylene insulated cable?
This is specified for the instrumentation, electronic circuits and supervisory control cables.

RE: TECK90 CABLES
This is pretty common stuff. I'd check with cable suppliers - they should be willing to send you a sample.
I believe Okonite C-L-X meets the TECK90 specs, although it has a continuous sheath, not interlocked. Okonite will be happy to give you information on C-L-X.
RE: TECK90 CABLES
I am in India (IEC zone) and the sort of cable you described is not common here. I came across the requirements in one tender for hydro power project for which my company (EPC contracting) is quoting.
The clients are also in India and their engineers might have picked up the specifications from earlier project.
From your post, I understand that the interlocked armour is different from the wire or strip armour that we are used to. The interlocked armour, could be more like braided copper flexibles that we use for bus duct terminations near the equipment, is it so!
In power plant, we lay cables in overhead trays, hence, conduit may not be relavant or are these cables meant only for low power and lighting applications?
Any idea about the corflex type instrumentation and control cables.

I used to work in a coal wash plant in Canada......all wiring was Teck90. It was PVC covered which had to be removed in switchrooms for fire reasons. We cut the armour with a hacksaw at about 30 deg to the axis of the cable (perpendicular to the pitch angle). Twisting the armour (a helix) loosened the armour, allowing it to slide off the end of the cable.

Thanks once again.

It is also approved for direct burial.
RE: TECK90 CABLES
"It remains flexible at temperatures below other cable types.."
How to correlate the above with the material used in the Teck90 cables. My understanding is that the insulating material is normal PVC!! Could you please throw some more light on the subject.
