installing ballast for 50 watt mercury vapour bulb
installing ballast for 50 watt mercury vapour bulb
(OP)
does anyone know where in the toronto ontario area i can get a ballast for a 50 watt mercury vapour bulb that is easily mounted? not likely, so that leads me to my next question.....how do i mount an h46 core & coil mercury ballast? the fixture does not hold a ballast. i don't want to get a different bulb either.

If your fixture has no place for a ballast then perhaps its intended for use with self ballasted type lamps such as:-

As you don't want to replace the bulb then a ballast is required, such as :-

However without knowing what sort of fixture you have, and how much space is available its hard to recommend a particular ballast.
Go on, change the bulb & get one which is self ballasted. It will save a lot of messing around.
