MBA, CE Masters, or JD?

MBA, CE Masters, or JD?

MBA, CE Masters, or JD?

(OP)
Say there's a chance to choose one of three paths.  The MBA, the (insert your discipline) masters, or the law degree.  Given your goals, whether they be to climb the corporate ladder, be the techie guru, start a company, or change careers; which would be most valuable in bringing your plans to fruition.  (Feel free to share your plans too.)

RE: MBA, CE Masters, or JD?

Um, you missed out the obvious option. In my field (automotive) the time spent getting a further degree rarely results in the gain in technical understanding that working in the right job does. So for a techie I suggest you need option (d) getting the right job

Cheers

RE: MBA, CE Masters, or JD?

All of the above.  You never truly know how your career will evolve, so everything you and Greg mention could apply at one stage or another.  Starting out of the gate, I would say that Greg hit the most important one.

This say it all...

Vita sine litteris mors est.

RE: MBA, CE Masters, or JD?

Alright, Rich2001...spill it.  What is the translation?  (For those of us that are Latin challenged, and I am not even certain it is Latin...)

RE: MBA, CE Masters, or JD?

Are you "Google challenged" as well?  Look it up in Google and learn two lessons at once.  It may save your life.

RE: MBA, CE Masters, or JD?

"Life without learning is death".

I didn't trust myself to find a Latin word translator and do a word by word translation, because I know that word by word translations by an amateur (me) would lack context and understanding of the actual use of the language.

I never even considered that it was a slogan or saying that could be googled as a complete entity.

Thanks for the the suggestion.

RE: MBA, CE Masters, or JD?

It would great to hear from engineers who are now attorneys and chose that option?

RE: MBA, CE Masters, or JD?

How many of those would be reading Eng-Tips?
