we have a production cell that makes gas fireplaces. And I would like to install a system that can imprint model number and barcode in the pre-cell to make it easier for product identification downstream. The capacity of our cell is 80-100 units a day. The fireplaces go through paint line before it gets to the post-cell (a permenant marker ink makes it through the processes without rubbing off) I was wondering if anybody had any equipment suggestions for me. I could really use some pointers.

RE: Imprint model#,barcode on 26 G galv steel

A Zebra barcode printer comes to mind immediately but you don't mention what happens in the paint line. Is there a wash or a cure? How does a marker make it through paint without being coated?

It goes through  wash (hydrodcholric acid sol) and rinse (phosphoric acid sol) to remove chemicals and the cure (460F)-i guess what I was trying say was that a permanent marker makes it through all these process fine

Oh! the powder coating is only on the front of the unit, the back of the unit does not get painted and that is where we would like to have the model and barcode imprinted
