system parameter for family table

system parameter for family table

system parameter for family table

(OP)
I need to set a user parameter based on whether a part is single or is a generic with a family table.  Is there a system parameter that indicates the presence of a family table?  I know I could set one user parameter to "generic", then have the other parameter evaluate based on this, but I'd like to have it recognize on its own automatically.  Thanks.

RE: system parameter for family table

Why do you need this?
What data management system are you using? - if it's Intralink then this reports whether a part is a generic or an instance.

We do not have Intralink.  Believe me I wish we did.  Management is considering adopting a numbering system where drawings of parts with family tables will have a different suffix.  I have a relation that makes the drawing number equal the file name, plus a suffix.  partnum = rel_model_name () + "-001".  The suffix needs to be "-900" for family tables.  It's stupid, I don't agree with it, I'm just trying to make it work.
