Interface problem with S7-300 and FM357-2 axis controller

Interface problem with S7-300 and FM357-2 axis controller

(OP)
Hi Guys/Gals,

I am currently working on a project that involves making significant alterations to a pick and place robot.  The main hardware components are a S7-300 PLC(315-2), OP17 Human machine interface and a FM357-2 axis controller.  The FM axis controller is interfaced to the PLC by several digital inputs and 150 R parameters that are contained in a data block of the PLC.  The PLC starts the axis controller by setting the digital inputs, the controller then uses NC programming to perform the relevant axis control.  The changes I have made to date are to the NC program and to the number of R parameters used by the program (increased to 200).  Since these changes have been made the PLC has stopped communicating to the FM axis controller, i.e. FM fails to read the R parameters or digital inputs.  I have checked the data block that is used as the interface area and the relevant inputs are being set which points to a communication problem.
I am sure i have the correct software to complete the project(S7 V5.2, Protool, FM357-2 toolset including VAR selector and parametization tool).

Any advice would be of a great help.

Thanks in advance.
