B31.3 - New 2004 Edition is OUT!

(OP)
Well, I've just heard that the new edition of B31.3 was issued a couple of weeks ago.  And, despite the fact that we're well into 2005, it's being called the 2004 edition.  Go figure.  Official date of issue is April 29, 2005 with mandatory usage October 31, 2005.

Looks like hard copies only from ASME, but it is digitally available if you subsbribe to IHS.

Enjoy,

Mr. Edward L. Klein and Team Member's

ASME B31.3-2004 (Revision of ASME B31.3-2002)

Dated Jan. 1, 2004

Question did the ASME PRINTER miss the Dated?

RE: B31.3 - New 2004 Edition is OUT!

I actually ordered mine yesterday afternoon. The guy I spoke to on the phone says they have lots of copies.

No, Isthill.  Actually, IHS has it misdated in their listing.  The dates I quoted are from the copyright page of the new code.  Believe me, I've been on the lookout for this one for about a year now.

StressGuy,
It's better for ASME to keep with the 2004 date so they can then ask for more money in 2006 for that version.

RE: B31.3 - New 2004 Edition is OUT!

Stress people, prepare yourselves because it will come with lot of changes in stress theory, Caesar II, Simflex and others previous programs will be out of date, very soon.

It will not only to buy the standard, and learn the changes, also somebody have to buy the upgrades of the stress programs.

My head is loosing hair only to thing about it. And my company will invert lot of money.

¿Is there somebody yet to evaluate the changes?.

Regards

Antonio

Looks like the big deal will be if your client wants you to apply the appendix P rules to evaluate the flexibility stresses.  In reality, this is going to amount to a check of the operating stresses, as it will include the sustained stresses as well.
