Mechanical Interlocks for Pig Launchers and Receivers

Mechanical Interlocks for Pig Launchers and Receivers

Mechanical Interlocks for Pig Launchers and Receivers

(OP)
Will Someone have experience using mechanical interlocks for the valves associated with Pig Launchers and Receivers??.

In our company want to implement this kind of interlock in order to have safer operations, in all pipelines (gas, crude oil, etc).

RE: Mechanical Interlocks for Pig Launchers and Receivers

generally, pig launchers/receivers are equipped with a pig signaling device, which enables the operator to safely & appropriately operate the system. i'm not that familiar with the "mechanical interlocks", but if they are proven devices, then perhaps a viable option.

good luck!

Mechanical interlocking is very dependent upon the pipe arrangement. It can be done with levers and slides to ensure a valve is closed before a second valve is opened. A better method may be to use "castle" keys on the critical valves that can only be removed when the valve is closed. The castle key is then used on the second interlocked valve to open it. This is similar to switch gear interlocking. Fortress have a set up for valves try this link. www.fortress.com.au
