Energy from waste oil.

Energy from waste oil.

Energy from waste oil.

(OP)
I live where waste oil is not recycled, people simply dump it whereever. How can this oil be used to generate electricity?

RE: Energy from waste oil.

Not sure but many use it in their oil burners to heat shops and such.

RE: Energy from waste oil.

You could filter the oil and use it to run a diesel generator.Probably would have to add at least 50% clean diesel fuel to the mix.

RE: Energy from waste oil.

We use to skim the oil out of our machine waste coolant and store it temporarily and every month someone that burned oil for heat would come and truck it out.  Not sure who they were or if they did anything to the oil after it left.

Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. And scratch where it itches.

RE: Energy from waste oil.

swall is likely right. I have heard of a truck running accross Canada on used french-fry oil that they picked up from resturants along the way. ran fine as long as they got it warm enough to flow.

RE: Energy from waste oil.

Dear KTU,
It is not clear what type of oil is involved. If it is about edible oil, there are technologies that are allowing to refine it and to obtain Biodiesel and glycerine.
If we are talking about lubricants, there are also reconversion technologies, that are allowing to obtain usable lubricants. In both cases, you need a plant and also a network to collect the used oil.
