conical draft in pro/e
conical draft in pro/e
(OP)
Does pro/e have a command to put conical draft on castings?
I used the revolve tool, but you would think pro/e would let you pick the surface you want to put the conical draft on and then put in the angle you want?

Using the right click to proceed thru the steps is faster than before. Although, keep in mind the dashboard options allow us to step back thru. And when you have finished the steps, the pre-finish yellow shows up; giving us a better feeling upon finishing the feature command.
I think the key is not to take the easy way out; as in draft hinge planes. Use the draft hinge orientation of an axis or straight line over planes as it takes a calculation out of the mix. We all know two points make a line and three points make a plane; but sometimes we just don't realize the increased calculation time we are causing in our selections.
For complicated drafts that transcend faces as in a walking parting line, I have found I have to also break up the calculations even more. Create a curve by intersecting the partingline surface with the effected part surface. By using the pre-exsisting curve as a draft hinge, the draft will finish out.

I applied some of your advice to a part I am working on and it made a world of difference! I had a draft feature that took a good 15 seconds to regenerate each time, and I replaced the hinge plane with an intersected curve and bam! it regenerates just like that.
cheers!
