Rocket Motor

Rocket Motor

RE: Rocket Motor

The main problem with a rotating combustion chamber is getting it to work with liquid fuels - the centrifugal forces will tend to sling all the droplets out to the walls.  Even gaseous fuels can be tricky at high relative "g" loads, as the fuel cracks and becomes lighter it will tend to segregate away from the oxygen.  Heavy fuels will sink.  Lastly, I don't see how this engine cools the nozzle throat - maybe it just erodes.  Makes replacement necessary.

Would love to see the design in a scaled-up version capable of 300k lbs. thrust...
