Gerotor pump

Gerotor pump

Gerotor pump

(OP)
Does anyone know if a gerotor pump can be or has been designed with a drive shaft that extends completely through the center of the pump body. It seems that sealing between the pump body and the inner rotor would present some challenges, however I may be overestimating the difficulty.

Internal gear pumps work on the same principal as gerotors. The drive shaft and internal gear rotate on a central constant axis. The gear ring spins in an eccentric path creating the required pumping motion.

The bearings are lubricated with oil at the system pressure and the shaft is sealed by a standard shaft seal.

The inlet section of the pump is sealed from the pressure section by an "O" ring.
