Questions about saveing down in Solidworks

Questions about saveing down in Solidworks

Questions about saveing down in Solidworks

(OP)
Okay,

I have evaluated inventor and Solidworks, and might I add solidworks blew them out of the water.  I am curious, the solidworks reseller mentioned that solidworks is not backward compatiable.  For instance no save down feature.
Any comments from you guys.

I do have to say that I am super excited about this move.

Thanks for the info.

RE: Questions about saveing down in Solidworks

no, you can not save "down". You can save as an eDrawing and send for viewing, measuring, marking-up, etc, but not editing. I don't know if SolidWorks have plans in the future for backwards capability.

He is correct, no save as previous verion. Of course neither does Inventor, UG, or Solidedge for that matter.

forward is a nice direction, you could always spit out a surface file and read it back.  Not to mention there is a nice conversion utility so you convert files automatically while making copies to keep in the older version, all done for you.  You'll love it.
