Rotary Shaft Seal

Rotary Shaft Seal

Rotary Shaft Seal

(OP)
Hey Guys,

I know about standard types of rotary shaft seals to seal under high pressure, temperature and that sort of thing... but these all risk some small amount of leakage. Are there any more complex seals that will completely seal from all leakage between 0-200 psi?

Thanks.

No.

Contact John Crane. They'll have a mechanical seal for just about any application.

Try polypak and design the groove according to specifications listed by Parker-Hannifin.

I've used these in rotary applications up to 10 ksi, 400 RPM (oilfield - drilling) without a leak issue.  Note also that you will need to pick the polypak material according to your working medium, not only temperature and pressure.

Good luck with it.

RE: Rotary Shaft Seal

A double mechanical seal with a pressurized barrier fluid will force leakage of the barrier fluid past the seal faces into the process, reducing the chance of leakage to the atmosphere. (API plan 53)

Depending on your equipment type, a magnetic or canned motor drive would be the only zero leakage seal that readily comes to mind.
