Pull Pit Applicatins

Pull Pit Applicatins

Pull Pit Applicatins

(OP)
Hi there,

I am continuing a project which already designed by other engineer.

I have two questions:

1) The transformer size is 750 kVA. what is the advantages and disadvantages of owning transformer by client or Hydro?
I already knew that if Hydro owns it they will charge a maintenance fee on every kwh consumption.

2) In the design, engineer considered two electrical pull pits, one at termination pole where hydro supply line exists( which if hydro owns the transformer not needed, I believe) and another one at pad mounted transformer primary and the supply is duct bank buried.
Do my client really need these two pull pit?
What's the application of Pull pits? Isn't it like pull boxes and manhole for ease of cable laying?

Any reference, link or comment  would be really appreciated.

Thanks

RE: Pull Pit Applicatins

You do not state who your client is, but on the end the owner of the transformer will be responsible for it. If your client is the owner, he'll have to do maintenance on it, repair any possible future faults (if any) on it, or find someone to do it. You'll have to compare the Hydro's fee with your client's costs to do everything, to determine which way is the best.

I am not sure what a pull pit is, but it seems something like a joint bay.
Eases cable pulling
Gives access to the cables in future.
Place where you can joint cables.
