Triple E Fuel pump commutator wear

Triple E Fuel pump commutator wear

We seem to be having a problem with excessive commutator wear on Bosch electric fuel injection pumps when running triple E gasoline.  Anyone else see this happen?  This is on engines running on dynamometers in test cells.  Post mortem on several pumps shows the brushes have cut deeply into the cummutator.  This problem seems to happen at low hours, but only with triple E fuel. Perhaps a pump with different brush material would do better? We are seeing large amounts of copper from the commutators in the filters. The brushes almost seem to be working like an EDM on the commutator!

RE: Triple E Fuel pump commutator wear

Sorry - what's 'EEE' fuel?

I've seen heavy com wear on some Bosch EKP3 & 4 EFI pumps, but only when I ran them with diesel fuel.

Triple E fuel is a standard test gasoline used for emissions testing.
