DIAGRAPHM OPTION IN STAAD PRO2001

DIAGRAPHM OPTION IN STAAD PRO2001

DIAGRAPHM OPTION IN STAAD PRO2001

(OP)
I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE STAAD PRO2001 OPTION DIAGRAPHM SLAVE AND THE RIGID SLAVE USED IN STAAD PRO2000.

CAN THE RIGID SLAVE OPTION BE USED SUCCESFULLY TO MODEL RIGID FLOORS, SPECIALLY 2 WAY CONCRETE FLOORS?

CAN THE RIGID SLAVE OPTION BE USED SUCCESFULLY WITH RESPONSE SPECTRUM ANALYSIS?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP

RE: DIAGRAPHM OPTION IN STAAD PRO2001

There are 3 types of master slave options in STAAD.Pro 2001.

1) SLAVE TIE "A" MASTER ...

In this option, the degrees of freedom which are specified under "A" are considered to be exactly equal between master and slaves. If the word "RIGID" is used, all 6 degrees of freedom will be treated as being exactly equal between master and slaves. So additional displacements at slaves due to rotation of the master node will NOT be taken into consideration.

2) SLAVE DIAPHRAGM "A" MASTER

where "A" can take on the values XY, YZ or ZX. This is the type of condition which exists when a slab or a wall exists. So displacements at slaves due to rotation of the master node will be taken into consideration.

3) SLAVE "A" MASTER ....

Here "A" can take on values FX, FY, FZ, MX, MY or MZ. Here, the rotation as a rigid body is considered between the master and slaves. So displacements at slaves due to rotation of the master node will be taken into consideration.

4) SLAVE RIGID MASTER ....

Here the word RIGID represents a rigid body linkage between master and slaves. So displacements at slaves due to rotation of the master node will be taken into consideration.

The option (1) is going to be an un-published feature in Version 2002 because it is quite unlikely that a real life link which reflects this condition exists.

Kris

thank you kris for your information, it has been very useful to me.

do you think that the RIGID "a" MASTER SLAVE (STAAD PRO2000) can be used to model a concrete slab subjected to dynamic load?
