VB Autonumber set-up in Excel

VB Autonumber set-up in Excel

(OP)
Hi Folks,

I'm new to Visual Basic so have patience!  I have an Excel spreadsheet and a Access Database linked together using an Access form as my front end.  I am trying to set up an autonumber function in my Excel spreadsheet to act as a record ID.  I can currently get the whole column to perform an autonumber function with the folowing code:

[rowoffset = 0
Intersect(ActiveCell.EntireRow, Columns("A")).Value = ActiveCell.Row + rowoffset]

This only inserts the autonumber when the row is actually clicked on with the mouse (rather that when data is inserted into the row via the linked Access form).  What i would like to do is have the autonumber activate when data is entered into another column in the same row via the Access form and not have to actually enter the excel spreadsheet to get this to happen.

Sorry that this is long winded but any assistance that anyone can offer would be greatfully appreciated.

Many Thanks
Fandar
