Dual Core CPUs: AMD vs Intel

(OP)
Intel introduced dual core desktop CPUs earlier this week. AMD does it today with server and workstation dual cores. We should see in the coming days more reviews. Too bad the LS-Dyna results were not ready for this review.

"Alan sent me this message a few days ago: “In one of our real-world multithreaded benchmarks, the dual Dual-Core AMD Opteron was so fast that I repeated the test five times to make sure something wasn’t amiss.” Turns out it really was that fast. Here's his article."

"On that note, we can't underscore how smooth a system is when running with multiple processors in general. A dual processor machine makes multitasking smooth and responsive, even when your system is working hard on something very processor intensive."
