DSI Method

DSI Method

(OP)
My question relates to the DSI routing method vs. the storage indication method.  The conditions of my current model (by routing with the storage indication method) yields tail water conditions at the downstream pond.  Using the DSI method the condition is no longer present.

For this case, can one simply change the routing method to resolve the tailwater issue?  Will the DSI method be accepted, by the industry practicers when used?  I'm really not clear on the funtionality of the DSI method.  I don't know why this model would be used all the time.  Please advise.

RE: DSI Method

DSI is exactly the same as traditional storage-indication method, except that the discharge curve is recalculated at each time step for the new tailwater.  You can confirm this by modeing a case with no tailwater, and observing that the two methods will produce identical results.
