Fault Current Contributions of Harmonic Filters

Fault Current Contributions of Harmonic Filters

Fault Current Contributions of Harmonic Filters

(OP)
Hi All

Does anyone think it would be worth my time to try to include harmonic filter contributions to some fault current estimations that I've been making?  So far, I've ignored them assuming the time constant of the filter is  small compared to 1/2 cycle calcuations & the contribution would be minimal at best.  It seems to be more of a transient issue than a fault current issue.  Any comments??

RE: Fault Current Contributions of Harmonic Filters

Generally speaking, contributions from stationary inductive devices are not considered in fault current calculations using the standard methods.

RE: Fault Current Contributions of Harmonic Filters

Correct, contribution is negligible and can be ignored.
