Does anyone know of a good reference for Visual Basic on SolidWorks?  I have done some programming, but not in Visual Basic.  I want to write some SolidWorks macros.

   Thanks.

RE: Visual Basic

The API help gives examples for almost everything.  That is where I have obtained most of my info for macro writing.

RE: Visual Basic

I learned strictly from the examples and asking alot of questions.  Download alot of macros, edit them (back them up first) and see what happens.

Learn how to use the windows of VB to help you solve your macros.  Learn how to use the SW Constants too.  Once you accomplish those two things the rest is a little easier (stressing little).

Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. And scratch where it itches.

RE: Visual Basic

Best place to start is learning VB6 (nearly the same as VBA used in macros).  Then the SW API help will make much more sense.

Look for books from the [i]"Teach yourself Visually...{/i] series.

I could be the world's greatest underachiever, if I could just learn to apply myself.

RE: Visual Basic

To get a good head start on the macro, start the macro recorder, manually make the changes you are after, and then save it.

Editing the recorded macro will give you a glimpse of what you will be after.
